Threads
(May 2026)
The tradition of using threads to embellish, communicate and decorate has spanned most of human history. It was used to communicate status, mend and as a tool of practical education and domesticity. The elevation of women’s craft as a feminist movement in order to reclaim and redirect has been a powerful voice in times when women’s voices often went unheard.
This exhibition is a celebration of the next iteration of artists using threads to embellish, communicate, decorate and elevate their artworks. Curated by Brisbane artist, Leah Gordon, this group exhibition will showcase the broad talents of contemporary Australian artists using threads as part of their artistic expression.
